Jane has been Director of INCPEN since 2000, and its Technical Director since 1993. She trained as a biochemist and has over 20 years experience working on packaging and environmental issues. She spent two years in the late 1980s as a consultant to the UK Government's first Minister with responsibility for recycling. She has written many reports on wastes management and the environmental impact of packaging systems and lectured internationally on these topics. She co-ordinated one of the first lifecycle analysis studies on packaging in the 1980s and organised the first detailed analysis of the composition of household waste in the UK with Merseyside County Council. She is a member of the UK Government’s Advisory Committee on Waste and Resources R&D, Fellow of the Institute of Packaging, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, member of the Institute of Wastes Management and International Solid Waste Association. Previously, she worked for Cable and Wireless, Unilever, and Metal Box (now Crown Europe). |
