Student and School Starpack Winners 2006

The importance education plays in creating packaging and design professionals of the future and the role IOP: the Packaging Society has taken in creating awareness within schools and colleges has received further impetus through the record number of entries to this years Student & Schools Starpack Awards.

The judging panel examined each of the 245 Student Starpack entries and awarded 12 Gold Stars, 27 Silver Stars and 24 Bronze Stars across nine categories Cartonboard, Child Innovative Gift Pack, Combination Pack, Consumer and Transit, Creative Metal, New Polythene Pack, Gift Packaging, Shelf Ready Packaging and Soft Drinks Bottle Icon.

Tim Lynch, packaging artwork manager, of sponsoring company Britvic Soft Drinks, and member of the judging panel, said, 'I was very impressed by the way students tackled the briefs so thoroughly and creatively. They really worked hard to capture the spirit of the competition. '

Anthony Hackforth, chairman, Student Starpacks 2006 judging panel, said, 'We were delighted by the record number of entries, it really proves that the message of the importance of packaging as a discipline has not only filtered into the educational system but is also being proactively included in the classroom.
